It does reflect the sad reality of what still goes on. While it doesn't hurt to remember those who serve in isolation while the majority celebrates together I for one don't want to think about warriors and soldiers at the time reserved for peace. It may sound a bit idealistic but I look forward to the day, if it ever comes, when there'll be no need for people having to stand guard so that others can have at least a resemblance of peace.
